With the recent school closings the BMES PTA has decided that we will encourage children to finish out the Read-a-thon at home over the next two weeks. While the children have packets from school to work on, we are hopeful that the Read-a-thon will be a motivating force for your child to “step right up & read” as much as they can during this time away from school.A few reminders/notes:– Even if your child has not been recording his/her minutes read on their Read-a-thon Minutes Recording Sheet yet, it’s not too late to start! If you need an additional copy go to: https://burntmillses.digitalpto.com/readathon/
– Children can read to themselves, be read to by an adult or older sibling, or they can listen to a story digitally. While we definitely would love to raise money for the school, we would also love for every child to read and fill out their Read-a-thon charts even if they do not have sponsors or donate money. That said, all funds raised during the Read-a-thon will be used to sponsor programs at our school.– Once we return to school we will collect Read-a-thon forms and sponsor money. All forms will be due on April 2nd.– We have great prizes for our prize raffle, including Principal for the Day, a class carnival party for the classroom with the highest percentage of participation and great achievement prizes. Also, if 100+ students participate Mr. Clarke will dress up as the BMES eagle!Top Reader prizes (for most minutes read)* 1st place reader wins “Media Assistant for the Day” with Ms. Savoy & a basket of reading rewards!* 2nd place reader wins a Book Fair prize pack!Top Fundraiser Prizes (for most money raiser)* 1st place fundraiser wins a Kindle!* 2nd place fundraiser wins a BMES Spirit Gear Bundle!
Thank you for continued support,BMES PTA
