Thank you for interest in volunteering your time and talents to the PTA and Burnt Mills Elementary School. Whether you have one hour or a whole day, we can use your support! Continue to check back often to find more volunteer opportunities.
* Spelling Bee Olympics – March 8th
Interested in helping to make the first Spelling Bee Olympics at Burnt Mills Elementary School a success? 5th graders will need your help while practicing their spelling skills during recess hours and after school on Wednesdays (2/21, 2/28, and 3/7). The final Spelling Bee will take place on March 8th and we will need approximately 5 volunteers. Volunteer tasks during the March 8th Spelling Bee Olympics include a pronouncer, 2 judges, and snack assistants. If you are interested in volunteering for this event please contact Dr. Jenel Wyatt (5th grade parent).
* Watch D.O.G.S.
Watch D.O.G.S. is an innovative program focused on education and safety in schools by using positive influence of fathers and father-figures. We need five (5) dads/father-figures to step up and help me launch this great program. Our goal is to get 100 Dads/father figures involved and committed to this important program for students. If you are willing to help, please email Dr. Ashton directly at [email protected].
*** IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR BMES VOLUNTEERS ***
All volunteers who regularly support Burnt Mills and its students (including chaperoning field trips) must complete the Child Abuse and Neglect volunteer training. This training is required by Montgomery County Public Schools every three years and is offered online at: www.montgomerycountyschoolsmd.org/childabuseandneglect. If you completed the training in 2016-17, the Burnt Mills Elementary School office should have record of your completion. If you are new to Burnt Mills, please complete the training and/or show proof of completion to the office staff.
