Here’s a list of what’s going on this month:

November 1 – PTA meeting

November 7 – Professional Day; no school for students

November 8 – Election Day; no school for students and teachers

November 10 & 11 – Early release; Parent/Teacher conferences

November 12 – Zootopia Family Movie Night at 5:30 pm; $1 per person/$5 per                            family

November 17 – Reading Night 6:30 – 8:00 pm

November 23 – Early relase

November 24 & 25 – Thanksgiving Holiday; schools and office closed



PTA Meeting on November 1st


Please attend our first PTA Meeting of the Year!

Tuesday November 1st 6 PM meet and greet, 6:30 meeting start

Dinner and child care provided.

This is a unique opportunity to have your voice heard by the School Board and County Council.

School board members Jill Ortman-Fouse, Phil Kaufman, and Michael Durso, along with County Council member Tom Hucker will be in attendance. Do you have questions, ideas, or concerns you would like to share? Do you have issues that are impacting your community but are not sure how to address them? This is a unique opportunity for Burnt Mills. Please pass your questions and/or ideas on to Mike Miehl at We want to hear from you!

September 15-October 15 – National Hispanic Heritage Month

October 3 – No school for students and teachers

October 5 – Marking Period 1 progress reports distributed

October 10 – Open House from 9:45-11:45 am or 2:00-3:45 p.m.

October 12 – No school for students and teachers

October 17 – Fall Picture Day

October 22 – 1st Annual Spanish Immersion Harvest Potluck (contact

October 23-31 – Red Ribbon Week; focus on drug prevention

October 24 – Pumpkin Day

October 27 – PSI Parent Meeting 6:30-7:30 p.m.

October 28 – Fall Harvest parties 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Our students are off to a great start this school year. We’re going to keep the momentum going by keeping you updated on the Burnt Mills School community’s upcoming events and ongoing efforts. September 13-16 – Scholastic Book Fair (Media Center)

September 14 –  Back to School Night from 6-8:15 p.m. (Parents only)!

September 15 – Girls on the Run begins after school

September 30 – Early Release day for students
